At Royal Tree Lodge, it’s not just about luxurious accommodation and old world hospitality. Marked walking trails invite guests to create their own adventure allowing safe, intimate interaction with wildlife. For the more adventurous, set off on a horseback safari, scenic flight over the delta, or mokoro canoe trip down the river.
Finish off the day with a warm drink around the communal fire as personal safari hosts and Royal Tree Lodge managers share life stories from over decades of safari experience.
20-minute drive from Botswana's Maun airport takes you to a private game reserve stocked with giraffe, zebra, several antelope and enough open skies and wild bush to ease you into the magic of an African safari.
Accommodation is in either thatched chalets or tented rooms on wooden decks. Both options feature quality beds and semi-open plan en suite bathrooms with hot running water, open-air showers and flushing toilets.
The living area is beneath some ancient trees and a shaded deck winds around the trunks. The food won't hold up to the luxury safari lodges you're headed but it sure beats aeroplane grub and the setting is somewhat more comfortable too.
Stretch your legs on a guided walking safari or horseback trail through the reserve learning about the plants, small creatures and some of the larger plains game as well as the hundreds of bird species on permanent call. And of course rinse off the dust and wash away the heat with a dip in the pool and an ice cold drink on the deck. Aaaaaah! Now you're ready to enjoy your safari.
