Boat trip on Lake Ihema in Akagera National Park is an exciting and adventurous activity. The lake is located in the southern part of the national park and is one of the biggest out of the 10 lakes in the park. Majority of the boat trips in Akagera are conducted on Lake Ihema.
Lake Ihema covers a surface area of about 90 square kilometers, and is approximately 5-7 meters deep. The eastern part of the lake lies on Rwanda’s border with Tanzania. The lake is fed by the famous River Kagera, which feeds most of the lakes in the national park.
