Welcome to Twyfelfontein Country Lodge. A true landmark situated in the heart of one of the world’s most magnificent wilderness regions. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Twyfelfontein in Damaraland is home to one of the largest collections of rock-art engravings found in Southern Africa. Not only did the Khoi-San and tribes of ancient years leave us with a true cultural heritage, but the whole area is characterised by natural wonders such as Doros Crater, Burnt Mountain, Organ Pipes, Petrified Forest and desert-adapted animals – of which the desert-adapted elephant is probably the most well-known species.
Nestled along the mountainside, the lodge beautifully blends in with its surrounding environment. Using natural stone, carefully selected paint colours and thatched roofs, its design compliments the sandstone rock formations with minimum visual impact on this picturesque landscape. Magnificent views from the deck over the Huab Valley, desert plains and distant mountains provide for hours of relaxed comfort, peace and tranquillity.
Twyfelfontein is much more than just accommodation; it is a destination in itself.
Between Kaokoland and the Skeleton Coast, where the flat-topped Etendeka mountains and the carpet of rich red rock greet the tributaries of the Uniab River, lies Palmwag Lodge. Amid swaying makalani palms and robust mopane trees nourished by underground water, the lodge overlooks the sweeping northern Damaraland landscape peppered with green euphorbias.
Feel the freedom of the north-western corner of Namibia, one of Africa’s last wildernesses, a refuge for black rhino and lion, and home to the famous desert elephant that follow the ephemeral rivers spanning the land like arteries of life. The hustle and bustle of daily living dissipates here as you entertain a slower rhythm of life. In the Kaokoveld extremes, where wildlife wanders freely, the infinite dome of blue sky holds sway during the day, and at night, the brilliance of the night sky takes the stage.
Join a guided hike, a day or morning of exploration, a sleep-out or a sundowner drive in the 582 000-hectare Palmwag Concession, a vast conservation area with an abundance of wildlife. Palmwag collaborates with neighbouring conservancies, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism and Save the Rhino Trust to safeguard this rich wild heritage, offering guests extraordinary unrivalled African experiences.
When the rugged reds soften into pinks and purples at the end of the day, touching your soul with their magic wand of beauty, and a buttery moon rises regally over the horizon, a deep peace pervades your being. Sit back in comfort listening to barking geckos calling their mates and the wind dancing in the palm fronds, content in the generous arms of a wild Namibia.
Epupa Camp offers you a relaxing yet exhilarating few days of personalised service and excellent meals in the seclusion of a lush riverine wilderness of ana trees, wild figs, makalani palms and baobabs.
We are situated on the southern bank of the Kunene River, from which the Kunene Region in the northwest of Namibia, takes its name. Epupa Falls, acclaimed by many international travel writers as a must-see tourism destination, is about as far north as you can drive in Namibia.
Epupa Camp offers three kinds of accommodation, namely tented rooms, self-catering tented-campsites and traditional campsites, where you do the do-it-yourself-roughing-it, or the city-sleeker caravan or rooftop camping.
The ten comfortable safari-style tents consist of eight twin tented rooms, one honeymoon tented room with a queen-sized bed and a four-bed family tented room, all with en suite bathrooms. The tents have electrical lights and mosquito netting at the windows and doors. Shaded patios in front of the tents overlook the Kunene River on its flow to the Atlantic Ocean.
Apart from our private island and swimming pool with a river view, our facilities include an outdoor bar with free wifi, lounge with small library and dining room.
Activities include guided cultural tours, sundowner drives, rafting on the Kunene River and several nature walks.
The lodge is situated on the bank of the Kunene River which forms the north-western border between Angola and Namibia. A lush canopy of indigenous trees provides shade for chalets and campsites, while the swimming pool has its spot on the sunny lawn.
From the bar and restaurant, a deck extends over the river, making for a spectacular location to enjoy a drink or a delicious meal with overlooking the river opportunities to boot.
Dolomite Resort is located in a previously restricted scenic area in the western region of Etosha National Park, rich in biodiversity due to the absence of mainstream tourism. The dolomite formations in the area give the resort its name and provide a lush vista. With no less than 15 waterholes, wildlife sightings are very common around the resort and provide excellent photography opportunities. Black and White Rhino have often been spotted at the Klippan waterhole. Moreover, the specially arranged game drives bring you to the most exclusive areas of the park, generally only known to conservationists.
Wildlife and game viewing opportunities in Etosha are exceptional including: elephants, lions, rhino, cheetah, leopard, giraffe, Hartmann's mountain zebra, Burchell's plains zebra, springbok and many other species of plains game, a great variety of birds including many raptors.
Game drives at Dolomite Camp traverse the exclusive western sector and visit natural waterholes where a great variety of wildlife passes through to quench their thirst in these parched lands. Your thirst for excellent game viewing, quality accommodation and a unique African safari will also be quenched.
Okaukuejo, located 17 km from the southern entrance of the Etosha National Park, is famous for its flood-lit waterhole, where visitors can observe at close quarters a spectacle of wildlife congregating and interacting.
Accommodation is provided to suit every need, in premier bush chalets overlooking the waterhole; bush chalets and double rooms; or family chalets. Other facilities include a restaurant, bar, shop, swimming pool, kiosk and camping facilities.
