Being home to over 200 bird species makes Kibale a great birding destination. The activity starts at Kanyanchu at 7am and takes around 2 hours or more depending on the interest of the birders; rare species can be spotted like the Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Warbler, White-collared Oliveback and Papyrus Canary.
Outside the park is the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, which is home to 138 bird species which may be seen during guided walks along the boardwalk trail and viewing platforms.
